Review on πŸšͺ SOSS Zinc Magnetic Door Stop: Easy Screw Mounts, Stunning Bright Chrome Exterior Finish by John Wells

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A strong magnet holds almost every door. I'll be buying more of these right after I've finished my review.

When I received this I immediately noticed that the magnet was twice as strong as another brand I had bought to compare. I also noticed that the drywall requires 3 screws to attach while the other brand only had 2 screws. That was my first problem because I'm attaching them to the top of the door, so the other piece needs to be attached to the drywall with the plastic wall anchors provided. So they don't get in the way when vacuuming or wiping. In any case, with 3 screws, I'm sure that they will never come loose from the wall with such a strong magnet. The small spring-loaded part only has two screws, which are enough to attach it to a wooden door. They worked great on my garage doors, which are heavy solid core doors with spring hinges. Another brand I tried wouldn't hold these doors. The two pieces need to be perfectly aligned for the magnet to hold them best, which can be tricky. If you need to make adjustments, like I did, it's as simple as removing a screw on the part you're attaching to the door and turning it just enough to drill a new screw hole. Depending on which screw you remove, you can turn it in 4 different directions. TIP: Install the part with the magnet first and let it hold the other part, open the door and make sure the part is flush with the door when it touches. . With a short pencil, circle the part that will attach to the door. Now all you have to do is screw the second piece into the center of the circle you drew on the door. My second is burning.

Pros
  • Magnetic Holding Force 9 lbs.
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised
