Not Too Soft But Otherwise Nice

This yarn as advertised as being soft, and it is definitely not. Even after I put the finished project through the washer and dryer with fabric softener, which will usually help to soften acrylic yarn, it's still pretty rough and scratchy. I will update my review in the future if additional trips through the washer and dryer are able to soften it. To me this isn't too much of a problem--it just means I'll use it for different projects. Instead of afghans or wearables, I would use it for things like bags, rugs, stuffed toys, or other things that need to be sturdy but not necessarily soft. In all 12 skeins I only found one knot, which is better than a lot of the big name brand yarns. There were a couple of spots of inconsistent thickness, but nothing to worry about and again, minimal compared to other brands. This yarn is thinner than worsted weight (4), but it's a little thicker than the DK (3) weight Mandala yarn I'm now working with. I would still probably call it a DK weight. It left a little dye on my finger and on the cushioned grip on my hook as I was working with it, but it didn't seem to bleed or cause any problems in the wash. It doesn't split easily and would probably be easy enough for a beginner to work with. The skeins are pretty small, but they're easily joined together with the Russian join or another method of your choice. The crochet hooks that came with the yarn to me are almost useless. The area for your hand to grip is tiny on both hooks and seems like it would be very uncomfortable to use for more than a few minutes. They were also smaller than I would normally use with a yarn of this weight unless you need your project to be fairly tight or stiff. I used a H8/5.0mm hook for my project and it gave it a nice drape. Overall I like this yarn enough that I bookmarked it so I can find it to buy more in the future if I have a projects that suits it.
