I first bought a pair one size bigger for my kids because all the reviews said they should be bigger. They were very loose on them. They should be quite thick to keep the heat on your baby's body. Both of my children are around 70% tall and heavy, so pretty average and not petite at all. Sent back and bought the correct sizes and they fit great. So soft and dense, perfect for wearing under loose clothing for outdoor play in the colder months.
