Review on ⚡️ Residential Surge Protection: Leviton 51110-SRG Panel by Mike Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A bit tricky to install with drywall

I'm giving it four stars because it's not designed to be installed with drywall breaker boxes. I had to drill holes in the lid to install it. Its wire exit is fairly short, so the edge of the panel cover fits snugly against the cover itself. The panels have knockouts and they must be of sufficient wire entry depth to avoid 1/2 inch drywall and match the row of knockouts and long enough to reach the box inside the bezel overlap. That aside, the rest of the installation was straightforward and I made it look good, it just required some extra work. I got this to help with things we don't have on surge protectors or UPS power. We lost a few items due to possible spikes, so hopefully that helps. We will continue to use secondary protection. This device is only intended to reduce risk to household items that typically do not have secondary protection: stoves, air conditioners, fans, etc. Time will tell its surge protection. Revain gives this a comfort rating - it doesn't look comfortable - I wouldn't use it for a pillow or blanket ;-)

Pros
  • Economical Commercial/Residential Surge Protector
Cons
  • Concise Instructions
