Great value high quality tablet holder

I have decided to write a long term review as I have been using this stand daily for over 2 years and am amazed at how well it serves me. I use it in my bed with an Apple iPad Air 2, a fairly thin and light tablet but heavier than a phone. It has a heavy, stable base that prevents it from tipping in any direction (I use it on carpet). The lever consists of 2 parts, with the lower horizontal part remaining fixed over the sturdiest part of the base. You can use your device at the maximum distance from the base and then turn it sideways when you're done. The calipers that hold the device are the best. Part and superior design with a soft contact point sitting on a spring platform. The spring allows for more travel than the thickness of the pads, unlike other holders I've seen. This is important because the extra lift allows you to continually increase the tightness each time. It's firm enough to hold my device in any orientation (even in portrait mode) without slipping (it's never dropped my iPad), but also prevents over-tightening and damaging the device. A simple push of the release button unlocks the ratchet and releases the tool. The bracket allows you to rotate it from landscape to portrait as needed, and even rotate up/down/left/right without having to loosen and tighten the turnbuckle or latch. /Unlock. Once you've installed a tension spring on the top vertical arm to counteract the weight of the device (there's a tool for that), you can easily raise or lower the device and it will stay in place. In 2 years of ownership I had to adjust it 2 times. The only weak part I found was the yoke that holds the movable arms to the stationary vertical tube. It's plastic with a metal pin running through it and a vertical metal tube attached to the base to connect them together. This design is fine as long as you don't pick the device up by holding the articulated arms over the collar. Since the base is heavy, lifting it this way transfers all of the base's weight to the pen, which will eventually shatter the plastic sleeve it's running through. Lifting at the base or bottom vertical tube prevents this. I was lazy and after lifting the block several times a week for 1 year the yoke broke in the pin hole. It was usable as long as I didn't pick it up as the top tube would slip out of the bottom one. I fixed this with a hack that connected the top and bottom vertical tubes with a new pin (made out of copper wire) and drilled a new hole in the metal tube and collar. I use it as often as I do. Note: I saw a comment about running the charging cable through the handsets. While it is possible, I use magnetic cord clips to hold the long charging cord on the handset of the device.
