I've recently compared many binoculars that I have that cost less than $700. Verdict? If money is not an issue, don't look for great optics under $1,000. If you're on a budget, value your money, or are just starting out in bird watching as a hobby, download Athlon Midas Binoculars! An optically good example of Midas binoculars that perform as well or even better than many binoculars that are two to three times more expensive. Processing and accessories are also great. The only downside I see (and have NOT experienced myself) is that quality can vary by sample. Although this complaint is anecdotal at best. The sample I received was shipped quickly, well packaged, no problems or defects. Feel free to try them yourself! Also, for those looking for a slightly more premium option, the Spectra/Passion GPO series is exceptional. My wife requested an Athlon Midas binocular so I bought the Spectra due to the cheaper price and availability compared to the Passion ED. The included accessories, build and features are superior to the Tract Toric (which I returned). The Spectra can be purchased for less than $400, which also makes it a steal.
