Review on Harris 500K Al-Solder 500 Aluminum Solder Kit: Premium Solution for Efficient Aluminum Soldering by Jeremy Meza

Works great with a flashlight as described but not yet with a soldering iron (Hakko with temperature control and chisel tip). I used a regular propane torch on my test pieces, soldered a 1.5mm thick strip of copper to a folded piece of takeaway aluminum container (like a disposable baking pan), and the joint was rock solid. With a soldering iron I couldn't solder the copper to "tin". I think the thermal conductivity is too high and this combination of solder and flux needs an accurate temperature (narrow range) to work. With a torch I can release more heat, heat up the non-working end of the part and get everything to the right temperature. Basically you're watching the flow, and if it starts to smoke just a little bit, you're at the right temperature. Otherwise the thread doesn't work. Zinc solder smokes heavily, do not inhale. I guess I'm a bit picky about giving 4 stars because it doesn't work the way I want it to (soldering iron) but hey why is this thing so damn expensive? Yes, and the bottle with the flux is now well sealed with tape. does not leak as previous reviewers have experienced.
