Review on Activated Charcoal Countertop Distillers for Distilling by Eddie Rivas

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Water takes the path of least resistance and the paper used on it appears to be nearly waterproof.

Update: They're useless I've tried everything and like other people have said you can pour water in them and they'll still be full in 20 minutes. It looks more like a plastic bag than a filter. You'll need to use a tea bag and some good quality charcoal as nobody seems to be selling working filters. They seem to have a lot of charcoal in them, but the ones I have seem almost waterproof. When I tried to rinse the paper I was about to use, the charcoal plucked paper appeared to be waterproof and the water dripped right off the item. I rubbed it between my figures to see if it needed a bit of wear and the water just beaded off. I know that in a still head, the water flows around it and into the glass bottle, not through it and the charcoal. . Water takes the path of least resistance, and the paper they used for it doesn't have the least resistance. I'll just toss them in my pitcher and let the water soak until I get what I like best. I'm not sure anymore why filters are needed at all. Someone mentioned that charcoal is used to add some carbon to the water so it doesn't go completely empty and absorb as much carbon dioxide from the air, or so I think.

Pros
  • Makes water taste fresh and clean
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
