After cooking rice in a pot on a glass electric stove and cooking too many times, I decided to buy a microwave rice cooker. I've read many reviews of plastic rice cookers and the vast majority of them were very negative, usually on the grounds that they were cheap and melted within the first use. I thought I'd have to give up the search, but I came across this list. The reviews have been great and having used it myself it deserves very positive reviews. First, it's made of thicker plastic and doesn't melt at all. It's very easy to use and the rice turns out perfect every time. I usually make 3 cup (cooked) portions, starting with a cup of rice in a red bowl, fill it halfway with water and stir, then let it sit for a while, maybe 10-15 minutes. Then drain the water (easily using the inside lid) and then add back in 1 1/2 cups of water, place in the microwave and cook on high power for 12 minutes. I have a 1200 watt microwave. So if you have less or more power, you will most likely need to adjust the time. I just set it and forgot about it, and 12 minutes later I had perfect rice. Easy cleaning. I love it and highly recommend it.
