I bought some small computerized battery charger/maintainers from Harbor Freight because I wasn't cheap enough to buy a real battery tender. I found that the HF units were not working properly. They only check and bring the battery into optimal condition the first time it is connected. If the battery gets low after that, they won't turn on. I've found that if I turn them off for a few seconds and turn them back on, they go through the test loop again. I use them to turn my chargers off for 30 minutes once a day and then turn them back on. . They have been working under a canopy for a number of years without any problems. I am very satisfied with them because of their durability and cheap price.
