Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ FE0479 Electric Fuel Pump by Delphi by Jerry Peebler

I expected better: Electric Fuel Pumps

I was in urgent need of a pump for a 1998 Ford Contour 2.0 and the price was a lot cheaper than the same pump locally. Revain delivered the next day. Delphi should be a respected name. but they resorted to the same Chinese crap found throughout the auto parts industry. The pump is supplied with a wide range of rubber seals and gaskets to suit a variety of applications. It's great except they have the marks and feel of inferior Chinese rubber. I doubt they will last long if submerged in fuel. I have decided to reuse my original Ford tank gasket which is green and is probably made of HBNR to better withstand ethanol fuel blends. There is a rubber pad at the bottom of the Contour app. None of the ones included were the same and I reused the original which will probably outlive the new Chinese rubber anyway. The pump comes with a new one. It's great except it's made out of plain old steel (and stamped pretty badly too) and when you tighten it it stretches. and stays that way. Drops directly on $#*%&. This thing needs to be spring steel so you can tighten it and spring back to hold it. I took the original I tore off, bent it and used it again. What a joke. The pump has a different electrical connection, but comes with an adapter. I just hope the insulation doesn't fall off the wires considering the quality of the rest of the parts included in the kit. All said and done, installed, it works and gives pressure and the machine runs well. But let's hope it lasts a long time. Edit: This is now a 1 star review. After 9 months and less than 3,000 miles this pump started making strange popping noises during operation. The car still ran fine, but it didn't sound right and I didn't want to get stuck on the side of the road. I replaced it again with a Bosch pump which was much better and quieter than ever. Do not buy this pump.
