8/18/20 OK, I've finally allowed these shoes to sleep in the house. After 46 days of remaining outside in as much daily sun/breeze as possible, plus one washing, they still have an odor, but it is NOTHING like it was 46 days ago. I'm returning them to a 4-star rating for a really good looking, extremely comfortable minimalist shoe , which feel just like wearing house slippers with a much better sole. If they hadn't tried to kill me with outgassing of the toxic chemicals used in their materials, I'd gladly have given them 5 stars.8/6/20 another update a few hours later.After a month of leaving these shoes sitting out in the sun, I thought the outgassing had diminished enough to safely wear them indoors, but I was wrong. My throat is cinching up and I've got a serious headache; it feels exactly like I've been breathing paint fumes. I was ready to buy another pair because they are so comfortable, but it looks like it will be several months before they're safe to wear inside. Serious bummer. I'd like to think that maybe the orange or black color in the same style would be different, but it's probably the same material. Maybe I'll buy a different pair and find out. I wish these were made with something less toxic, but surely they'll stop outgassing eventually. I'm dropping the rating to 2 stars for now, because my head hurts and I'm really disappointed.8/6/20 This is an update to my original review, and I'm increasing the product rating from 3 to 4 stars.After a month of keeping my shoes outside in full sun and fresh air, I can now bring them in the house. The outgassing has greatly decreased, but I'm still keeping them in a spare bedroom with the door shut, unless I've got windows open and air moving through the house. For the hassle of having to detoxify them, I can't give them 5 stars, but I'll go up to 4 because they are SO COMFORTABLE and I love wearing them. I'm thinking I should buy another pair and leave them outside for the rest of the summer, just so they'll be deodorized and ready for when I finally wear out this pair!7/3/20 The first thing you need to do when you open the package is put the shoes outside in fresh air and full sun--for about six months. I saw other reviews about the smell, and because I am sensitive to toxic chemicals, I knew I had to be cautious. Yes, the outgassing is extremely bad, and when I dared to sniff the shoes I got the immediate, screaming headache that tells me these chemicals are very dangerous for my health.Still, the shoes (the 1_Purple style) are extremely comfortable and fit exactly as I wanted them to. I followed the item description's advice because I am between their sizes, selecting the higher size number because of the snug fit of this style. They are minimalist shoes and so would not give much support for rugged hiking, but they should be fine for walking and feel like they would be good for trail running on easy trails. I wanted a shoe with more substantial soles than my Vibram FiveFingers, so I can comfortably walk on concrete sidewalks and wet surfaces without soaking my toes; these shoes feel like they will fulfill those requirements.Seriously, I will be leaving them outside in full sun whenever I'm not wearing them, and I will not wear them indoors or inside a car until the outgassing stops. It will eventually, but I know from experience with products made from such toxic materials that it could take weeks or even months. I will update this review as soon as I can say for sure how long it takes. For now I will give them only 3 stars, because they definitely come with both pros and cons.
