They are so cool, I put 34 of them in the house. I had one where there was a joist right in the middle of my ceiling, I cut a 6" hole and left 1" on each side of the joist, just enough to attach clamps to either side. We moved a junction box to the attic and installed light from the main room. 1/2 inch spacing I was able to easily mount this lantern. There is no built-in light that can do that! These are excellent lamps, I am very happy with them. No noise when dimming or flickering. I used Diva Dimmer.
