Review on Winco Stainless Steel 4-Prong Bar Strainer: Filtering Perfection for Cocktails by Ellen Chase

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Poor design

Suppose you want to pour a cocktail from a shaker into a fairly narrow glass, and then you realize that this strainer has a nearly 1/4 inch strip of metal right down the middle for the liquid to come out out of here. Excuse me? What is it for? Instead of a single fill, I want to see a split view? No thank you. I don't need to see double after my first drink. Additionally, the metal tabs on the outside that prevent the strainer from falling into the shaker are curved, and if those curves don't touch the rim of the shaker, well. Flat tabs are what you need. This strainer was clearly designed by someone who has never made cocktails before. So it's a particularly revealing artifact of our current economy. You can decide if this is a museum piece worth the price, but don't plan on using it to strain cocktails.
