We did a lot of rock climbing and water climbing this summer and I had a pair of cheap water shoes for my daughter that just couldn't hold up. I was hesitant to spend so much on a pair of shoes that they would probably outgrow them in a few months, but I was sooooo glad I did. It was more stable which in turn made it more comfortable and we could explore our adventures better. Definitely worth every penny. The size was perfect and I've washed them at least a few times as some of our trips have had dirty water. I'm sure I could hose her down, but the washing machine was just as easy.
