Review on πŸ” Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS Lens: Exceptional Zoom and Image Stabilization by Minju Gim ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is at the level, I am satisfied with everything.

The Fujifilm XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS is much more than just a kit lens. Sharp in the center already at F2.8, but at 55mm, optimal sharpness is only achieved after F8. The situation is similar with sharpness at the edges, with the same limitation at 55mm. However, apertures of F2.8 at 18mm and F4 at 55mm provide a very good basis for creating great shots. And even a 7-bladed aperture allows us to form a good background blur (bokeh). There is practically no vignetting, chromatic aberrations appear very rarely, but they are easily corrected in the editor. At 18mm there is a bit of barreling, but that's normal for a wide-angle focal length. The lens is not designed for macro, but the minimum focusing distance of 30cm gives some freedom in macro photography. I liked it fast enough. accurate and quiet autofocus. The control is made as a very convenient and wide focus ring, but the aperture ring does not fail either. After a few weeks of use, you can be guided by the sensations. The whole lens is made of metal, but the weight is not great. Everything is very neat and kind. The outer lens does not rotate, which gives a very good advantage when using gradient filters. Only one significant drawback is the price of this lens. It's quite large, but when you take into account the characteristics and quality of the lens, as well as its versatility, the price does not seem high anymore. Moreover, the lens comes as a complete set with cameras. And the acquisition of such a kit will already allow you to shoot good shots.

Pros
  • Build quality, metal construction Characteristics of a completely non-whale lens Versatility, suitable for solving a wide range of photo tasks Focus speed and accuracy
Cons
  • Perhaps only the price, but this is not a drawback if you objectively look at fuji lenses
