Review on 🔧 Dorman 916-511XD Engine MDS Solenoid for Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Models (OE FIX) by Pedro Hague

This Dorman 916-511 XD Cylinder Deactivation Solenoid was specified for my 2008 Chrysler Aspen. After this magnet was installed by Dorman to replace the original factory installed magnet, it failed after only 75 miles. It illuminated the Check Engine light and returned an error code suggesting the part had failed. After significant disassembly efforts, dyno testing confirmed that the part was indeed faulty - it worked and didn't work intermittently. Dorman's marketing hype surrounding this solenoid suggests that it is of higher quality than the factory original (which has worked flawlessly for 12 years). I took a chance and ordered another Dorman 916-511 XD. I mean, what were the odds that two new Dorman solenoids that were designed for my car would fail almost immediately. Especially in a well-maintained car with relatively low mileage, without oil problems. By the way, the installation is not an easy task - you have to solve a lot under the hood and remove the intake manifold. Unfortunately, Dorman's second magnet failed even faster than the first. Two new failed Dorman solenoids and two sets of intake manifold gaskets and a lot of expensive work later I was back where I started. Three strikes, you're out. No, this time I went for a more expensive "Made in USA" part from a Chrysler dealer, which in hindsight I should have done. The dealer has driven more than 500 km without any problems. For the record, I personally ordered the first Dorman solenoid from Revain. Another family member placed a second order. The only positive in our buying experience with Dorman Solenoids was AMAZON. Ordered parts arrived with incredible speed. And after sending the defective parts back to Revain, the refund was seamless, smooth and quick. To be fair, my honest rating would be: FIVE STARS for AMAZON, zero stars for Dorman. Regarding the 916-511 XD Cylinder Deactivation Solenoid Compatible with 2008 Chrysler Aspen 8 Cylinder Hemi Engine. It's not like this!
