Review on Capresso 6624 Glass Ice Tea Pitcher, 80 oz. (2.5 Quarts) by Cornelius Mosley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Better than the original

I purchased this replacement after the tear in my original became too big for the comfort. I've found that the bottom can crack if you put it in too hard or if you hold it in the fridge door and hit it when you take it out of the bin. It needs to be handled carefully as it is very thin, but you need to boil the water in a saucepan and then use a funnel to pour it into a heavy glass jug. It's a compromise between comfort and durability. The replacement unit arrived in a branded and illustrated box rather than a plain brown cardboard box. It was well packaged, it looks like the real thing, not a fake. I weighed my original and replacement for comparison prior to use. Replacement without cap is 10g heavier than original. I would guess that they made the glass thicker in the right places. It fits well in the kettle and I've gone through about 5 brew cycles with no issues. I also hand wash it in cold water with a few sprays of Clorox bleach to sterilize it. Temperature changes in the dishwasher can also damage these jugs. If you overload the dishwasher and push the shelves in as hard as I did, chances are you'll break this and other glassware. With better care than the first time, I expect it to last a lot longer than the original.

Pros
