Several times a year I take a land trip with the same group of friends and I usually change up the routine of pumping water. A typical trip involves setting up camp in one location for a few days and day trips. Too often we found ourselves at the creek at night with flashlights and filled water bottles because we kept putting off the task. On that last ride I was the champion (actually thanks to the HydroBlu filter); I had two three-liter bottles attached, orange and blue, and always had a full bag of drinking water on hand. I tried assembling the bags, hoses and filter, but ended up simply screwing a bag onto each end of the filter and hanging it on a tree branch with a carabiner. It was a simple circuit and worked well for our situation. quickly fill up at the stream, hang up and go about our business, in half an hour (from ten minutes to over an hour and backwash time) we had three liters of drinking water. I got into the habit of handing out good water and hanging fresh river water, we always had plenty of water to drink and we didn't have to wait for water, so I stopped paying attention to how long it takes. By the end of the third day it was time to backwash it by lifting clean water over the filter and squeezing the bag for five seconds, then straight up and it was good as new. Now all my buddies want the same setup it's so easy and so good. I would have saved money if I had bought a kit that had two bags included. Looking back I wish I had only gotten it because of the fittings that came with it, but I prefer these cnoc tanks because they are so easy to fill. A compact kit that was smaller than the pumps we used. No moving parts and the power needed to filter the water is provided by Mr. Gravity! When I got home I carefully followed the instructions to backwash the filter and run vinegar through it, then let it sit and dry for a week before storing it. I hope it lasts a long time, it should be enough for 100,000 liters of water. I estimate that 50 liters have been filtered so far, so there is still a long way to go. I did a lot of homework before getting this, I looked at the Platypus Gravity System, Sawyer Squeeze and a few others, submitted to a number of sites and blogs about outdoor products, YouTube etc but based on price, simplicity and simplicity. service, I chose HydroBlu. Now that I've used it, I feel it even more.
