Humidification and filtration

We have just used this as our only filter source and two of us have just completed a 20 day river trip. He filled the drinking bags, filtered the water for the food and also the drink for the whole trip. Low consumption, gravity flow, but no complaints.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others

New version no longer fits Smart Bottles

This is my second Hydroblu Versa Flow. The new one is better designed but no longer fits smart water bottles. Instead, you should use a soda bottle. The new one has plugs on both ends so you don't have to worry about spills if you put the filter in your sleeping bag at night and the bottle also screws into the clean end for backwashing without the need for a separate device.

  • Very good price

Perfect gravity filter

Not much to say after reading Spencer's review in Seattle I was blown away. I already have a few Mini Sawyer filters that I still admire, but the bucket adapter and the then reduced price of $10 were a godsend. Using the same process as Spencer, I made a 5 gallon gravity filter for camp use. The only thing I had to use was teflon tape because the threads were leaking. UPDATE: After almost a year of sporadic use, it's still working perfectly. Maybe it's slowing down, I'm not sure, but I have a…

Excellent general purpose filter

is MUCH better than the Sawyer Squeeze. We got so tired of backwashing our Sawyer over and over again (because it was very slow even with very clean water) that I was close to going back to our trusty pump filter (Sweetwater). Then we saw one of the hikers pull out one of these babies and filter it out very quickly. They're the same price and filtration rating as Sawyer, but they work much faster. No problems with taste or transparency. This is our obvious choice. Works with Platypus, Sawyer…

The best there is. Better than Sawyer. Low price. Good quality. Light.

Excellent. Remember that smartwater bottles are not sealed, they are suitable for clean containers as a small air leak can force air out as they fill with water, but they are NOT suitable for delivering dirty water, dirty water will drip your clean end. But if you use a CNOC water bladder or a soft plastic soda bottle with regular dirty water threads, then you have a great gravity and compression system. Threads on both ends allow for easy backflushing without additional jets, and the outlet…

Didn't do my best at camping

I tried to agree to this product in doubt and considered it user error. I bought it last summer and couldn't get it to work when I was camping. I bought it because it attaches to a water bottle. I was never able to put it on lest it leak everywhere it connects to the water bottle (so "dirty water" was dripping into my clean water bottle. Due to this problem, dirty water was also dripping when I tried to drink straight on (although that just worked a little better to get the water through the…

Really like it so far

I haven't seen many reviews from tourists so let me see if I can help a little. Used the mini saw for a couple of weeks, really hated the flow rate. So I went back to wood compaction. I ate an extra ounce in favor of a better flow rate. who i love But then I saw some tourists looking at it. So I ordered it, opened it up, weighed it dry and got 1.4 ounces and 1.8 ounces wet (I shook all the water I could). I then did a test and tried to filter the pill. Water in a 1.25L Aquafina water bottle. (I

Don't screw up 1 liter of Smart Water or Platypus!

Advertised to be compatible with all water bottles. Photos in other reviews show that the Versa Flow is only threaded on one end. The one I received had threads on both. This WAS an advantage, but they appear to have changed the thread pitch on the newer filter. It appears to fit in a Coke bottle, but not in a Smart Water, Platypus hydrator, or any other cheap water bag. I was frustrated that it didn't fit in the bottle, but I find it a bit awkward turning the bottle upside down every time I…

Now all my camping friends want it

Several times a year I take a land trip with the same group of friends and I usually change up the routine of pumping water. A typical trip involves setting up camp in one location for a few days and day trips. Too often we found ourselves at the creek at night with flashlights and filled water bottles because we kept putting off the task. On that last ride I was the champion (actually thanks to the HydroBlu filter); I had two three-liter bottles attached, orange and blue, and always had a full
