Review on FORNEY INDUSTRIES 55701 Premier Auto Darkening Helmet - Professional Protection For Welding & Grinding! by Patrick Gibb

I felt like I got a great deal for 80 dollars but .

I was very excited to receive my new master series helmet. I felt like I got a great deal for 80 dollars but now that it's here I'm not so excited. Couple issues. headgear as stated previously is not comfy but I wear a hat so it's not a huge deal. The helmet holes/detents/stopper for when you put the helmet down in welding mode are way off. Even with it out at the farthest adjustment the lens is nearly on my chin and I'm looking down to see out of the lens. I'll have to make another hole and relocate the pin if I end up keeping it. It's way off. The helmet is very front heavy also and with only one stopper on the right side, it is not a clean stop and helmet will sit at a tilt. You can feel this leaning also. With the weight they should have put another detent and pin on the left side in the correct location of course. So you could actually have some useful adjustments on where you'd like your helmet to stop. I like the looks and feel of the helmet otherwise but these are pretty big issues for me. Considering this stuff bothers me sitting at home I know it will drive me crazy at work. So I've got a decision to make. I haven't even gotten into the lens functionality yet but I imagine it works. I did a little testing and it's as expected.

Pros
  • Love this helmet. High quality.
Cons
  • Shorter battery life than expected, requiring frequent replacement.
