Review on πŸ”’ CR Brophy Machine Works Heavy Duty Tie Down with HSSF Brophy Black Finish by Tim Purdie

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems like a solid product but make sure they work for you.

Purchased in preparation for the purchase of a 2nd Gen Ram2500 RV Slide. I didn't know which one I would take and figured I would need Anker Anker to bring it home. Part 1 - Product: Product wise they are very powerful and as long as the direction of thrust is basically "up". Without too much angle I'd say they would be great although I'm not sure of the load limits. No Drilling Good! As others have pointed out, not having full rear access will be frustrating. I had to cut holes in the plastic bed lining to allow the bottom support bar to make proper contact with the side wall of the bed and then it was very difficult to get to the nuts on the back unless I wanted to cut out even larger access areas that I didn't want to do. They seem to have designed it so that the square head bolts in the front are so tight that no wrench is required to hold them in place, and then you turn the hex nuts in the back. I think it would be better to weld the nuts on the back plate and have the bolts tightened from the front. Part 2 - Installation: I bought a used Hallmark Ute and when I went to pick it up from the dealer these anchors were too wide to fit more than 4 inches between the bushings (they were adjusted correctly). I had to remove the anchors and use ratchet straps to secure it and bring it home, which actually worked pretty well. My RV also had anchors on the jack mounting plates at the corners, so even if these brackets weren't too wide, they couldn't reach the far corners of the long bed (8ft bed and 8ft RV). According to the dealer, this created unwanted angles in all 4 corners that pulled towards the center and allowed the camper to jump up and pull the anchors at an angle. I would agree with this assessment in my particular case. Happy-Jac turned out to be the best solution for my setup. I had to drill holes but it works well and directs the forces to where I need them. My headline about them working for you is because the seller (Purely Powersports) was absolutely unwilling to help me in any way, even though I contacted them within 30 days of ordering. I understand that even if I had paid for return shipping (about $55 UPS, no entries and no signature) they would still have a "used" product with a few minor scratches from installation and removal , but it was still disappointing. Ask them to say "Return time has expired" and "Used products are non-refundable". I'll probably just shut them down and help someone else get a deal for what I paid minus the cost of shipping back. Do your homework and don't count on returns, especially since they're so difficult to ship!
