Awesome shave!: Razors and blades

I recently bought my first DE razor after getting fed up with the very high prices for good consumables. I'm so glad I did. My first shaving experience was with Astra blades. I was unimpressed and worried that I had spent $80 on my fancy razor. My beard is moderately coarse and I can only shave well with a good razor. The Astra blade required using both sides for a single shave and was a bit of a hassle. After more research I bought some feather blades. Shaving with a feather blade is like swimming with a shark in a pool. A little afraid to shave around my Adam's apple without feeling like I could cut myself badly if I'm not careful. Wow, too spicy. I finally got smart and bought a set of probes and my first blade that I tried were these derbies. Fantastic shave. Very clean, smooth shave. I would compare them to Gillette's best disposable blades, maybe a little better. I was able to walk around the place multiple times in any direction without irritating Nick. Very sharp and durable but not too sharp. I just shaved for the third time with the same blade. I could probably get a fourth. I clean and oil the blade once a week between shaves. If you're just transitioning from disposables, be sure to give it a try. They will appear very familiar.
