Blades are not all created equal. I've tried a few brands. The Derby Extra was a 'gold spot' for me, they trim my beard well but don't have that super harsh aggressive feel. A few blades I've tried, even the most expensive ones, that claim to be less aggressive have caused me burns and/or cuts. You cut my throat. These blades also tend to last much longer. My escape from the big business of cartridge shaving is complete with a combo of derby blades and a premium safety razor. Let's start with the blades: I had almost no nicks - two tiny ones and that's it. And a pack of 50 blades for 10 cents a week will last me 50 weeks. I change sides of the blade every day.
