The trunk lock broke more than a year ago. First it got stuck and wouldn't open, then it got stuck and wouldn't close. (That's a long story.) So glad we thought of trying and fixing it ourselves! After a few minutes we were able to swap out the latch and the trunk started opening and closing again. For $30! I removed the sprocket because I need to apply some force when closing to make sure it engages and doesn't bounce back. I'm not sure if the problem is in the lock or in the trunk. But it just seems to be getting easier. Maybe it just had to be hacked. If your trunk lock is broken, it's worth trying before you pay the dealer hundreds of dollars! (By the way, we've had a trap in the trunk for a few months.)
