Review on πŸ”Œ CaiKot 44: Revolutionary Conductive Silver/Carbon Coating for Versatile Surface Applications by Deron Gilliam

Worked well, but you have to be careful.

I've seen a few reviews that said "It didn't work at all." I think I know why. At least on my RCA console, the circuit board traces are not protected by a coating. This means that ANY overflow, when the mixture is not supposed to hit the rubber diaphragm, will cause a short and cause the remote to shut off. it happened to me I had very little excess but not zero. After I assembled the remote it was completely dead. Out of a hunch (I'm an electrical engineer) I took it apart again and carefully scraped off ALL the tiny excess connections that weren't on the back of the button. Once all the flakes were scraped off and deflated, I reassembled the remote control. Then it worked great. All buttons have been reset to the new sensitivity. I recommend this product, but you can't be sloppy with it. UPDATE: I've been using this refurbished remote for a few months now. This product did not make my remote control like new. It's BETTER than new. The performance of the remote control has been greatly improved. My hypothesis is that the conductivity of the keys is higher than the original conductive coating on the keys. If the actual operating current for the remote control is flowing through the buttons, there may be more current for the IR signal. Just a guess. There are no questions about increasing performance.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Good but not great
