I have used these for long term food storage in 5 gallon buckets. Since they're a lot bigger than the bucket, I cut off part of the top of the bag after I've filled it. I also used 2 oxygen scavengers per bag as recommended on some websites. I filled 5 bags each with dried beans and wheatberries. I sealed part of the pouch with a straightener and then threw away the absorbers. I just squeezed out as much air as possible and sealed the rest of the bag. The bags are all well packed. Dried beans compress more than wheat, but from what I've read some foods compress more than others, but that's okay. Remaining air is only nitrogen and does not affect food. I will definitely buy more bags.
