As far as I can tell this is a real horn comb. The reason I bought it is because I have curly hair and bristle brushes or fine-toothed combs break curls and can create frizz. So most of the time I carry a wide-toothed plastic comb in my pocket, but over time the teeth break. So this comb is perfect for what I needed: a comb with wide teeth that doesn't break. It's small enough to fit in any purse or pocket, but the prongs are wide enough not to break my curls. Overall I think it's a pretty good price and just what I was looking for.
