I bought an inexpensive smartwatch that counts steps, heart rate and sleep patterns. He did a few other things too. But I really only used it as a pedometer. It wasn't great in the sun as it was barely readable and had to be charged every night. It took about a year and then I settled on a basic pedometer. For the money this one is great. It's easy to program and uses inexpensive, replaceable batteries. It's also very accurate. Smartwatches are great when you need all the bells and whistles, but if you really just need a pedometer, try this one.
