Installed the CH340 drivers, plugged in the device, selected it in the Arduino ports and was able to flash the ESP-01/ESP8266 with no problems. Draws about 4.5mA when no device is connected, but I think it's a USB to serial chip. Surprised this isn't a standard device sold with these things. Definitely a tool worth having!
