This stuff is perfect

For my unusual project this worked PERFECTLY. I have metal (entrance) doors in my house and hollow interior doors made of wood. Instead of replacing them with wood as it can get expensive, I decided to make my doors look like wood. This is time consuming. I know they make a tool that creates a grain pattern, but my doors already have a grain pattern. Even though they are white. So I painted them light brown first. Then return to them with the stain. Try to create strokes with the brush that resemble the texture of the wood. Now let me tell you, the stain doesn't dry out completely. It dries to a sticky feel and that's it. To help it I add a clear coat the next day and within 30 minutes to 1 hour. It's dry and feels. Because the stain doesn't dry completely, it's still shiny and doesn't look like wood, and the doors can't be used because they're still damp. So using that matte finish made it look like wood. This worked great for my project. 4 doors made, 10 more left, by then I should be an expert on the subject. I did the door about 6 months ago and used a (Minwax) satin clear coat and it was still very shiny. I also applied this matte effect to this door and it is now a matte finish so it worked great. I've always had a problem with it being shiny (wet look). (in the first photo a glossy coat if the stain hasn't dried yet) The second photo is after I applied a matte finish. I'm happy with the result. I was really impressed with this product. I don't say it often either.
