I only got them because the Arteza pens I wanted to try were out of stock and the pens were needed ASAP. Spoiler! I should have just waited. Let's start with what I liked: I liked a lot of colors, I liked that the tips didn't break off. I liked that it came with a case. What I didn't like was that not all the pens fit in the case. I don't like that I have to leave the pen slot in the middle empty because if there is a pen in it it won't close. the fact that when I bought the case it was a rolled leather case, which is not the case! I absolutely hate this cover. As you can see, when I first received it I took a picture of the case before putting pencils in it. However, after trying on the colors, I put the pens in the case and found that I need to remove the middle peg as it will not close with a peg in that slot. I took it off and slowly and carefully began to close it. I tried not to zip because I felt it was a cheap zip. The feeling was right. I zipped up the zipper maybe an inch before I saw something bounce and graze my face. What was that? LIGHTNING! The zipper is half broken. And that half fell apart. I managed to find one of the pieces but the other is missing. How does lightning break up like this? I have no idea. I didn't respond expecting it to be the best zipper, but I didn't respond either because I expected the zipper to literally tear and crumble! Now on to real pencils which is the main reason I bought these. The pens themselves are fine. I wouldn't make a masterpiece out of them, but they're perfectly fine for my purpose. I asked her to add extra detail to my watercolor paintings. I also had her draw the base image of the painting because I was tired of seeing pencil marks in my work. They work great for this purpose. It's fun to play around with them. I'm not sure how well they sharpen because I didn't have to press hard and use a lot of paint to get the amount of pigment I wanted. However, these pencils are not very pigmented. If you want full color you have to press pretty hard. I prefer light colors so it doesn't bother me. But if you want something bold and bright, this isn't it. Lead itself seems very hard. I tried just drawing with these pens and shading the pen. Some of them blended better than others, and on some you could still see the strokes made after mixing with water. As many have said, I wish these pins had numbers or names or something! Final Thoughts: If you're looking for something to just tinker with or something to see if you really like watercolor pencils, then I might recommend these cheap alternatives. But then again, you could probably find a much better brand. So if you're buying something for a young child, this might just be what you need! Kids don't expect much when it comes to quality. I took the time to write numbers on each pencil and mark them on my pattern chart, if you purchase them you may wish to do the same. (The marker I used didn't rub off. I suggest you test it before you do anything and make sure the marker you use won't stick to it!)
