Review on Amerelle Filigree Triple Toggle Cast Metal Wallplate In Antique Brass by David Citizen

beautiful but beware!

These plates are gorgeous but you need to check the recess (or lack thereof) of your receptacle boxes before ordering (box that the outlet is in). Normal plates have a little bit of an overhang so if your box hangs out of the wall 1/16", the plate will still seal flush to the wall. These plates are flat backed. If your boxes are not flushed or recessed, there will be gaps between the plate and your wall. I found this out the hard way. I have 1/16" gaps on many of my plates. You cannot tighten the screw and fix this. Many electricians mount their boxes fast and not perfectly flush or remodels change the depth of your drywall. It is also important to note that these plates are thin and do not seem durable. I expect them to break with any accidental impact, i.e. moving furniture, dumb kids, etc.so i bought a few spares. If you have flush boxes, and not worried about impact, these look beautiful and I would recommend. If you want something pretty and high quality, you are going to have to pay more money.

Pros
  • This looks a lot fancier in person. It is reflective. It is also very easy to install.
Cons
  • The antique brass finish may not match well with modern décor styles
