Review on πŸš— Bosch Automotive 6001C HEPA Cabin Air Filter for Cadillac Escalade, EXT Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe GMC Sierra, Yukon XL Vehicles by Cody Henry

Revainrating 3 out of 5

No OEM quality; Directional arrow conflicts

Installed on a 2005 BMW Z4 E85. Factory packaging (yellow) is flimsy and was poorly packaged by Revain. The filter was crumpled but not bad enough (or problematic) to return it. The physical design is inferior to the original OEM. It fits but the assembly is poor compared to what I took off. The directional arrow is the opposite of OEM. I believe the difference is in relation to the "front" of the car versus the direction of the airflow. I detected this by a noticeable difference between the fold patterns and matched the new setup to the old, regardless of airflow direction. Also missing is a small tab that runs the full length of the bottom of the OEM filter. This helps with removal, but it's doubtful it adds compaction. The removal and replacement was a bear, despite what others have experienced. My block should be slightly different from those in the YouTube video. It has two screws and a fixed bracket in the middle of the panel under the glove box. The clasp is a hard plastic rivet that cannot be removed; I had to break the part it was connected to (small vent). TIP: When reinstalling, the screw holes will not match. I used a long nail to pry it in place. All in all, my R&R took about 45 minutes. It will be faster next time, but 10 minutes for my configuration is a challenge. So far there is a reduction in cabin air odor, but I don't know how long the charcoal will work. There are better filters.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
