Review on Hffheer Aquarium Filtration External Accessories by Erin Henderson

NO CAN FILTER, just can tank.

If you are interested in purchasing this product as a canister filter, continue. To be clear, this is NOT a canister filter. This is just a filter housing attachment that connects to an existing filter pump. If you want to use it as a canister filter, you need to buy a pump, hoses, sprinklers or lilly pipes, inlet pipes and nets, filter materials, charcoal, ceramic materials, bags, strainers, etc. Buying and cutting all of these materials will cost you A LOT more than if you had just bought an actual canister filter (which also comes with all the basic parts). such as 3-9 months replacement media and consumables). Decent quality canister filters are available from Revain from well known manufacturers such as Aqueon, SunSun, Marineland etc. Be prepared to pay anywhere from $60 to $120 for a canister filter that can clean a 25 to 90 gallon tank. I'm giving this two stars because the description technically says the pumps are NOT INCLUDED. But since the description claims this unit is quiet and since it is marketed as an external filter, the posting is generally misleading and could lead to nasty surprises. In the photo there is a canister and nothing else. It has an intake, exhaust valve, gaskets and a pretty solid locking mechanism. I didn't notice any leaks. The three-stage filtration actually consists of three main sponges stacked in one block. There is no filter material, no charcoal, no ceramic bacterial elements, nothing that is typically found in a working canister filter kit. Per. You can also attach it to an existing back-mounted filter for additional filtering. However, you will need a more powerful pump to pump water through both units. So why buy this block at all? I needed a vacuum container for my tanks. The couplers on this unit are compatible with my existing mechanical gravel vacuum. My vacuum cleaner has suction cups and can be attached to the side of the tank. A flexible hose connected to the water inlet can be used to filter and clean gravel without the bulky pump unit getting in the way. I hooked up a gravel pump to this canister and it does a good job of clearing the tank of dirt without causing the haze that regular gravel cleaning can cause. After cleaning, the device can be quickly disassembled, can be washed and dried for storage, and is generally a less messy cleaning process. TLTR: great for vacuuming, useless for anything else.
