I have a VERY messy eater in the house. My cat, Oliver, gets more food and water on the floor than in his mouth, I swear. I finally got fed up with picking up his scraps off the floor and constantly wiping his spills so I bought this mat to go under her dishes. It's perfect. I was worried that the size might be a little small and Ollie would still be able to make a mess beyond the mat, but somehow it contains everything he tosses out of his bowls! I also had a small concern that the mat might have a strong smell of rubber that would discourage Oliver from eating, but it came right out of the packaging with a neutral odor.
