When I've worked on my '96 Civic's cooling system in the past I've used a regular funnel and they worked, but it was very painful when the air was released. This is my first time using a leak proof funnel but it works really well! The main advantage is that you can hold a large amount of liquid in the funnel when filling the circuit to force the air out and cap it when you're done. It will drip a little, but not as much as before.
