Review on Efficient Set of 50 Washing Machine Lint Trap Snare Fabric Mesh with Ties by Dawn Sherman

You catch a fly. But not ALL bunches.

As a new homeowner, I once had no idea that lint coming out of the washing machine was a problem in my pipes. After having to drain my basement 3 times in 6 years, I decided I had to do better. Before making these lint collectors, I used "knee-length" nylon stockings that I attached to the washing machine drain hose with a rubber band. Now THESE have caught the ALL stack. They caught so much lint that I had to remove/clean them about every 3 loads which was a huge headache. Also, the lint never completely came off the stocking, it smelled musty at times, and did I mention the whole procedure was one giant PITA? One day, while browsing Revain as usual, I came across these lint filters. At the suggestion of another reviewer, I doubled them*. Do they catch fluff? Yes. Do they catch the whole stack? Not even close. Do they catch enough lint that I can avoid a clogged drain after 2 years? Alright, let's check. ADVANTAGES: Very easy to install and remove. They catch fluff. CONS: I can visually tell that they don't catch very much lint, at least not initially (however, once they start working they improve exponentially) *NOTE: I set up 2 traps at first, one inside the other. When the inner one is filled I remove it and make the outer one inner by putting a new one on top. This seems to help the fact that the new catcher doesn't actually start picking up lint until there's no more lint, if that makes sense.

Pros
  • Durable and rust resistant. The bulk version has a finer fabric than a plastic bag
Cons
  • Not sure
