As a new homeowner, I once had no idea that lint coming out of the washing machine was a problem in my pipes. After having to drain my basement 3 times in 6 years, I decided I had to do better. Disappointing. My washing machine drains into a sink which drains into a pump designed to pump waste water into the main line for the septic tank. I don't want my pump to clog, so in addition to these filters I have a filter over my sink drain. When I tried a filter, the drain filter got clogged. So I doubled the filters and my drain filter is still clogged. Therefore, I do not consider these filters to be suitable, at least for my system.
