Lepro blows away my Siege

I've had a Streamlight Siege (the 3 D cell version) for about 2 years and I really like it. When I saw this Lepro lantern, I had to get it. It looks and feels almost the same as the Siege, but this Lepro can put out nearly 3 times the lumens. Comparing output side by side, the Lepro blows the Siege away. Click once for 850 lumens @ 6000K (cool), click a 2nd time for 650 lumens @ 2700K (warm like incandescent light), click a 3rd time to run both banks of LEDs simultaneously for 1500 lumes @ about 5000K. On any of those settings, press and hold the switch and watch the output ramp slowly down (to perhaps about 1/2, just my guess). Or if you were to click a 4th time instead, you'd get a red flasher for emergency warning. The Lepro at 850 lumens is noticeably brighter than my Siege on high, so you can imagine how much brighter the light gets when you add in the warm LEDs besides. The Lepro's bail-type handle does not click positively into place when let down against the body, the way the Siege's handle does. And the Lepro does not have a carabiner-style clip on its top like the Siege, but there still is one on the bottom. and for a few pennies I can add my own carabiner clip on the handle if I ever need it. There are other minor differences in build (the diffusers aren't interchangeable between brands due to different diameters, for example, although the Streamlight's optional half-shade can stretch enough to go onto the slightly larger diameter Lepro diffuser). Both diffusers are removable for maximum output, which can be useful when hanging the lantern upside-down above the area. All in all, my Siege is in danger of a forced, early retirement. Especially since I also bought one of Lepro's 'baby' size 3-AA lanterns!

Pros
  • Super Bright & Long Lasting: The camping lantern features a brightness up to 1500 lumens and 360 degrees beam angle. Delivers up to 26 hours of continuous runtime.
Cons
  • The lantern may require a considerable amount of batteries, increasing the risk of battery leaks or damage to the environment
