Firstly this o-ring is needed to seal the Big Blue body against leaks when changing the filter. The quality of the rubber is good and when the ring eventually flattens out it covers the Big Blue filter. so it doesn't lay flat when you insert it into the top of the Big Blue's case, which can cause serious leaks. To solve this problem, for the last few years we have piled heavy books on top of an o-ring after heating it up in the sun for a few weeks to undo the kinks in the rubber and let it sit. in the Big Blue case. This is an example of reducing packaging costs, which actually affects the quality of the product. We've been ordering this o-ring for over a decade and for the last 2+ years doubling the o-ring in a smaller package has resulted in the annoying issues mentioned above - pic attached. Next year we will look for another source. for this o-ring.
