🔴 Pentek 151122 OR-100 Buna-N O-ring: Perfect Replacement for Big Black Housings Review

Bought a Pentek Big Blue Housing Replacement Pan (P/N 153070) and bought this o-ring as a kit (often purchased together). The diameter of this o-ring is slightly oversized for the case by about 1/4 inch. I called Pentair Customer Service and they reassured me that this item (part number 151122) is the correct o-ring for the housing. As mentioned by other reviewers these rings come folded in half. When you loosen the loop, they remain twisted and do not lie flat in the body canal. Also, they're a bit too long (big) for the channel in the Big Blue filter housing, and no amount of convincing will get them to lie flat in the channel long enough for silicone grease to be applied and installed. Firstly this o-ring is needed to seal the Big Blue body against leaks when changing the filter. The quality of the rubber is good and when the ring eventually flattens out it covers the Big Blue filter. so it doesn't lay flat when you insert it into the top of the Big Blue's case, which can cause serious leaks. To solve this problem, for the last few years we have piled heavy books on top of an o-ring after heating it up in the sun for a few weeks to undo the kinks in the rubber and let it sit.
