Review on Stainless Steel Tea Kettle with Whistling Spout, Ergonomic Handle - 3.9 Quart Teapot for All Stovetop by Chris Russell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

2.75 liter fill pipe and 5-ply bottom disc only 3.25 " diameter tapering to 4 "

Unchanged; 2.75 liters to the fill line. But what is more important to me; I've just received an induction cooker and my old kettle must be nickel and chrome because although it's stainless steel it's not magnetic so I ordered this kettle. I immediately noticed that the metal is not thick and wondered how the bottom could be 5 layers. I took a closer look and noticed that it is slightly convex in the center of the bottom, both on the outside and on the inside. The photos show a digital caliper measuring a 3.25" disc at the bottom, tapering to 4". Induction cooktops warn against using cookware smaller than 4 inches. So a 5-ply disc is 4 inches in diameter at the outer edge, but the thickest part is 3.25 inches, which is inside the induction heating coil. This pan would have been designed much better if the 5-ply disc was larger, at least 6 inches in diameter. the size. Otherwise the kettle is fine and a lighter metal will do. I deduct two stars for the misleading volume measurement and especially for the size of the 5-layer disc, which is too small for effective induction heating.
