Bought these binoculars before a trip to Alaska to replace an old Bushnell binocular that didn't quite match the build quality or optical capabilities of this unit. . I was arguing between this model and the (slightly) more expensive non-Bear Grylls model that Bushnell makes. In general, I've decided that BG is a good guy, and I care more about saving money than style. If you don't like BG Bling, note that there is an identical all-black version that you can buy as well. In general, they worked exactly as they should. We experienced quite a bit of rain and fog. I have never had any problems with these binoculars. While clearing my camera lenses of fogging, I was able to pull them out and see exactly what I wanted to see without any issues. Through more than one torrential downpour I've pulled them out and had no problems. My supposedly "waterproof" raincoat failed in front of them! I really appreciated being able to use them in almost any environment. This provided some viewing opportunities that might otherwise not have been available. Visually, it was quite good and inspired me to act. They were able to give me the right amount of clarity and zoom for my needs. Whether it's a reindeer or bear in the distance or something up close that I was dying to see, the focus range was just right for my needs. I had no trouble installing it into the case, but it's best to put the larger end into the case first. Through more than one torrential downpour I've pulled them out and had no problems.
