This works well in my Peplink SD 24 switch connected to an Asus Maximus XIII Hero Intel I225-V network controller. I get a full 2.5Gbps over a 15m Category 5e ethernet cable running through the attic and walls. Simultaneously copying large files from 3 other computers in the house with 1Gb/s connections easily uses the full 2.5 bandwidth. Both the switch port and the client NIC are set to autonegotiate. Everything else doesn't work. The client reports 2.5 and the switch 10 Gbit/s. The actual measured speed is 2.5. The SFP heats up, but not too much in my opinion.
