Review on Delphi CV10159 Idle Control Valve by Dave Tapia

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fixed freeze when trying to start Ram 2500 V10

. I had trouble starting the truck. To add to the injury, the computer didn't issue any CEL (Check Engine Light) codes - neither pending nor stored. If I kept my foot on the gas (accelerator) pedal I could leave the engine running and disengage and start driving, but it was very sketchy and dangerous as I was literally leaning forward and then the engine would stall again when i did it t Step on the accelerator when you stop, then put it in neutral just to put it in gear to make it work. During the drive the truck behaved normally - no shaking, no splashing etc. After we narrowed down the usual suspects; Battery, spark plugs, ignition cables, fuel pump, injectors. I started googling the symptoms and found the same issue with Dodge Rams 5.9L engine. I looked everywhere at the local parts stores, Napa was the only one that stocked this part (same model, etc.). But of course they wanted almost $100 for it. I'm cheap so I ordered it and waited two days to get it. The old idle air control valve was difficult to remove as I had to pull out the airbox, the airbox plate and then unscrew the two torx screws to the fire wall. The old part (especially the shiny metal part in the picture for this article) was covered in charcoal (black), I tried to see if it could be salvaged with an ohmmeter, but then I quickly remembered what a pain in the butt. part to remove and how dangerous it was to even start the truck moving. Putting the new part in was easy compared to taking it off, just the opposite of taking it off. I also took the time to replace the Borg Warner EC3208 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) as it was in the same general area, same age as the IAC and I really didn't want to take this bad boy apart. I urge you to be careful, there are many other parts here on Revain that will come along with the two parts I mentioned and they are a lot cheaper. Attention Emptor folks, cheap is expensive and these parts are poor quality. IMHO I hope this review helps.
