DO NOT BUY THIS DANGEROUS PRODUCT!

This evening I put my Snugglesafe in the microwave for the first time according to the instructions. I was careful not to overheat it. It was nice and warm when I took it out of the microwave. Not too hot to touch, but on the hot side. When I was about to place a heating pad in the outdoor cat house (a stray cat who recently roamed my house), boiling hot pink liquid flowed from the heating pad onto my hands and into my left shoe. The liquid was so searing it burned the skin on her toes and part of her right hand. It hurt so bad my head hurts now. To make matters worse, the liquid was all over the wood on my friend's back deck. There is a long streak of hard, thick, whitish liquid on its deck. I've just spent the last 1 1/2 hours using detergent, water and a Brillo paper towel to scrape everything off his deck. Due to the consistency of molten lava, scraping them off was impossible. I managed to remove a lot, but it's still very noticeable in some places. I covered a long strip with small rugs because the last thing I need is for someone to slip on the ice. Applying water to a strip of molten lava would definitely cause dangerous icing on its deck. I followed the instructions for a 600W-700W microwave and programmed it for 5 minutes first (the instructions say 8 minutes). Then I put the pad in for another 3 minutes because it wasn't hot enough after 5 minutes. The instructions warn that extreme heat can cause the contents of the heating pad to liquify and leak, which can result in serious injury. "Severe overheating" - exceeding the permissible heating time by 300-400%. For example, if the correct heating time is 5 minutes, it may melt and leak after 20 minutes of microwave heating. I just put the pad in the microwave for 8 minutes. Perhaps for the best, this horrific incident happened immediately. The product is obviously dangerous and defective and the cat could be seriously scalded if it sits on the heating pad while it is still hot and the liquid could spill onto its fur. I am very upset with this apparently dangerous and faulty product and plan to contact the company to complain and request a refund. Of course they will claim that I overheated it when in fact I didn't. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR YOU AND YOUR ANIMALS.

Pros
  • Non-Electric; just put it in the microwave
Cons
  • A few little things
