Works well despite setup complexity and some quirks

my sling. While these are the most accurate of the 4 or 5 golf GPS watches I've had, they also have some annoying quirks. Here is my list of the pros and cons of the Garmin Approach S42:Pro:1. The Approach S42 is by far the most accurate GPS watch I've ever used. I checked the distance using the sprinkler and laser range finder and it is accurate. This is especially useful when playing a caddy in a USGA or qualifier tournament other than my home field. During the practice lap I can take notes in my notebook knowing the distances are 100% good.2. I can do 36 consecutive holes and still have plenty of battery left. 3. Readings are clearly visible in any light and graphs are crisp.4. The watch strap is comfortable and fits over shirt, sweater and rain jacket sleeves. CONS: 1. The initial installation was a painful experience. The included user manual is not well written and not detailed enough.2. This watch is NOT suitable for rainy golf unless set to permanently lock the screen. When worn under a raincoat it blocks the GPS signal and by default shows weird screens like close-ups of green when I'm still 200 meters away. Worse, I have a heck of a lot of time to get the Clock in Yards back to the normal screen. If I wear it outside of a jacket sleeve, raindrops will cause the touchscreen to change randomly. I had to set the watch to auto-lock during a lap, which slows down the display of distance to hazards. But that doesn't matter, as I'll explain below. 3. I am not happy with the way this watch shows distance to hazards when spinning on bunkers etc on adjacent fairways that are not in play. As a result, I stopped using this feature and instead relied on my logbook and laser sight or home course memory.4. I want this watch to show the time on the screen during the round. It's very difficult to switch screens when I just need to take a quick look at how the pace of our group's game is progressing. Sometimes when I switch to another screen it doesn't go back to the normal footage screen either. The Bluetooth connection to my computer and cell phone was erratic, sometimes randomly selecting text messages or email notifications, and then nothing after 5 minutes. I noticed an improvement after upgrading to a higher quality iPhone with a lot more storage and battery capacity. To be honest, this is not an essential feature for me. Bottom line: If there were a way to get the amazing accuracy, easy-to-read dial, and comfortable strap of this GPS watch without all of the not-so-useful features, plus display the time during a lap and work effectively in stormy weather, I would would be a happy caddy! (NOTE: I've had cheaper models of Garmin golf GPS watches and they lacked the excellent accuracy of this model. I'm willing to put up with quirks because accurate distance is far more important to me than anything else.)
