Started straight but ended up jumping in the water

Worked great Then for a week the phone it was paired with kept disconnecting and reconnecting. Notifications stopped working and after restarting the phone it was not possible to connect the watch to Garmin apps, which was not a problem before. Go back and select a different model. On the other hand, the golf part felt accurate and worked well with a simple user interface. I don't know why the watch lets you take calls when you can't talk without a phone, kind of a useless feature.

Pros
  • Pair with the Garmin Golf app (if downloaded to a compatible smartphone) for real-time scoring, automatically download scorecards and see all your stats in one place
Cons
  • So far so good

Great tool for courses

I've used this for a few rounds now and also for everyday use. The watch is extremely comfortable to wear and I love its smartwatch functionality. They won't blow you away with the features that other smartwatches have, but I'm fine with that. GPS accuracy captures course and connects and tracks your game very quickly. The phone app is by far my favorite part. He analyzes your game, tells you what you do best, what you need to work on and compares you to other players with the same handicap…

Pros
  • Easy to read 1.2" color touch display with interchangeable quick release straps
Cons
  • Other interesting options are available.

Great features but very inaccurate - had to return

If it works, it's a good watch/distance meter. However, I've had a few instances where he was on the right hole but missed by 100 yards! It seems like the connection to the satellite is lost or something crazy is happening. I restarted the watch and encountered the same problem. So all you can do is reboot and move the satellite. My old Garmin S2 was basic but always top notch. In short, the S42 has great specs, but out of the 8-10 rounds I played I had the same problem about half the time. For

Distance Traveled for Golf Course GPS Modules

This is my first golf watch. First, a very stylish, squarer watch. I'm glad I chose the G42. I love the feature that shows the distance of your throw (the top number in the picture), now I really know how far I can hit the ball. The front and back green distances helped me a lot with my golf game. I look at the distance to the front green and then decide how aggressive I should be. It's better to keep the ball under the hole than to fly over the green. Before starting the round, make sure you…

Cons
  • Out of fashion

Lightweight and functional

This watch works very well when worn on a wrist. Right-handed, on the left wrist. This allows detecting the impact of a shot and automating the range tracking function for each shot. The dangers are eliminated from the next shot. It's easy to scroll and see the distance to enter the hazard and the distance to eliminate that hazard. It took me a few minutes to read the instructions, but it was pretty easy to figure out. The touchscreen can be a bit finicky at times. Being able to move the…

Works well despite setup complexity and some quirks

my sling. While these are the most accurate of the 4 or 5 golf GPS watches I've had, they also have some annoying quirks. Here is my list of the pros and cons of the Garmin Approach S42:Pro:1. The Approach S42 is by far the most accurate GPS watch I've ever used. I checked the distance using the sprinkler and laser range finder and it is accurate. This is especially useful when playing a caddy in a USGA or qualifier tournament other than my home field. During the practice lap I can take notes…
