I originally bought this device to check the temperature in a reptile enclosure. I was incredibly pleased when I got it - the gun is light and very easy to use and I thought it would make everything that much easier. All readings were incredibly high or incredibly low with no readings in between and I was struggling to figure out how to maintain optimal temperature before my snake got here. Oddly enough, I found that the readings from the digital thermostat and digital thermometer in the tank had nothing to do with the extreme temperatures the gun was giving me. Eventually I tested the gun on things I could measure the temperature of and found it was giving me false readings all the time. I am very disappointed with this as I really liked the concept and design of the pistol for this purpose.
